Du 8 au 27 février, Le Cinématographe à Nantes propose une belle rétrospective de la filmographie du grand cinéaste Stanley Kubrick (1928-1999). Sur treize de ses longs-métrage huit seront à l'affiche. Une sélection éclectique, à l'image de l'œuvre de Kubrick. Il explore différents univers, de la science-fiction à la guerre, en mettant à chaque fois l'homme au centre de ses réflexions.

Emmanuelle Bastet propose une version de la pièce Orphée et Eurydice de Christoph Willibald Gluck (1714-1787) au Théâtre Graslin à Nantes du 2 au 11 mars. A cette occasion le Katorza et Angers-Nantes Opéra ont proposé à Emmanuelle Bastet de choisir un film afin de le projeter dans une des salles du Katorza.
Ainsi, la metteuse en scène nous invite le 21 février à découvrir ou redécouvrir le superbe long métrage du vietnamien Tran Anh Hung : La Ballade de l'impossible. A la fin de la projection,  les spectacteurs sont conviés à se rendre au Théâtre Graslin pour assister à un instant de répétition de la pièce Orphée et Eurydice.
Le point commun entre le film et la pièce ? L'amour. Mais surtout la souffrance ressentie lorsque l'être aimé disparaît.

Cette année la sélection comporte dix-huit films. La plupart des histoires mettent en images la vie, des vies réelles ou fictives, heureuses ou difficiles, rêvées ou cauchemardesques. Elle dépeignent également la mort, celle d'êtres humains mais aussi d'espoirs et d'idéaux.
Quatre films inédits en compétition, deux films de répertoires (Morgan de Karel Reiz et The Blithe Spirit de David Lean), des reprises comme Submarine, Burke and Hare, des documentaires en présence de leurs auteurs et trois avant-premières attendues (Oranges and sunshine de Jim Loach, The Guard de Michael McDonagh et La dame de fer de Phyllida Lloyd avec Meryl Streep).
